I was recently invited by Eric Addison and old friend D.J. Summitt, who I met on the set of Chainsaw Sally, to discuss editing at the San Diego Premiere Pro User Group. This networking group gives editors a chance to meet and hear war stories from grizzled old veterans like myself.
It was a fun talk. I opened with a little history of my editing career, and the various systems I used during my journey. Then we had an extended question and answer section. I hope I was helpful to the budding cutters.
I have been interviewed quite a bit about my screenwriting career lately. It was good to talk about editing for a change. I am much less cynical about my editing career. I have nothing but good things to say about practically everyone I worked with as an editor. Unfortunately, I cannot say that about everyone I worked with as a screenwriter....
